I've learned to trust my heart. I know more than I give myself credit for. When in doubt, pause and reflect. The answer lies within.
Reward often. Be patient, to a point. Exercise gentle assertiveness when necessary.
Time heals almost everything, or at least dulls the pain.
The New Year is often a time for reflection and evaluation, especially for us obsessive-compulsive equestrians! As you look back on 2016 and all you've accomplished, you can begin to define your dreams for 2017. Be honest with yourself! Be sure the goals you are setting are your own and reflect your values. This isn't about impressing your friends, satisfying your trainer, or having the most 'likes' on Facebook. This is your journey, create your own picture of where you want to go, what you want to achieve, and you can begin to chart a roadmap to help you get there.
To begin....Set SMART goals.....make them
Write your goals down so you can periodically review them, making sure they are relevant based on where you are today, and where you might be tomorrow.
Create Action Steps. Set a plan for the year, then break the plan down into smaller and smaller pieces, being precise and setting priorities until you have a monthly and even a weekly to-do list.
Crossing items off your list as you accomplish them will help you track your progress and provide short-term motivation to your long-term vision.
Set performance goals, not outcome goals. Variables (weather, injury, etc) outside of your control may interfere; be realistic! Is any part of your attitude or mindset holding you back? Identify obstacles and address them as you goal set.
Reward yourself! This is your life, live it, love it, enjoy it!
